O καρκίνος του μαστού αποτελεί τη συχνότερη έκφραση καρκίνου στις γυναίκες.  Στατιστικά, μια στις επτά γυναίκες θα νοσήσει σε κάποια φάση της ζωής της, ενώ κάθε χρόνο καταγράφονται 6.000 νέες διαγνώσεις με καρκίνο του μαστού στην Ελλάδα. Η πρόληψη αποτελεί ιερό στόχο καθώς αν ο καρκίνος του μαστού διαγνωστεί εγκαίρως, έχει ως και 97% πιθανότητες πλήρους ίασης.

Ο Πανελλήνιος Σύλλογος Γυναικών με Καρκίνο Μαστού «Άλμα Ζωής» αποσκοπεί στην ενημέρωση του γενικού γυναικείου πληθυσμού για την αξία της έγκαιρης διάγνωσης του καρκίνου του μαστού, την οργανωμένη αλληλοβοήθεια, την ψυχοκοινωνική στήριξη των ασθενών και τη συμβολή στην απομυθοποίηση της νόσου (www.almazois.gr).
